How to Steam Mussels Recipe Ingredients:
  • 4 lb Mussels
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Shallot - minced
  • 2 Garlic Cloves - minced
  • 4 Sprigs Fresh Thyme
  • 1/2 cup Dry White Wine
  • 1 Lemon - juiced
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Tomato - peeled, seeded, diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped Parsley
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter

How to Steam Mussels Recipe Instructions:
  • Rinse/Scrub the mussels under cold running water.
     

  • Discard any mussels with broken shells.
     

  • Heat oil in a 6 to 8-quart stockpot, sauté the shallot, thyme and garlic to create a base flavor.
     

  • Add the mussels and give them a shake to combine the flavors.
     

  • Add wine, chicken broth, lemon juice,  and red pepper flakes.
     

  • Cover the pot and steam over medium-high for 5 minutes until the mussels open.
     

  • Add tomato, butter and parsley, recover the pot, and steam for 1 minute to soften and serve.
